Factory & Warehouse Accident Claims

Warehouses and factories are essential for many businesses, and are a fundamental part of how they operate and grow. However, they are also a hotbed for all manner of slips, falls, trips, and other types of accidents.

Despite health and safety regulations being in place, and managerial teams doing all they can to minimise incidents, accidents are still relatively common in factories and warehouses. Around 5% of UK warehouse workers experience some form of injury every year, and factory injuries account for almost 10% of all UK workforce injuries.

Although factory and warehouse accidents are pretty abundant, many people don’t know that they can actually make a claim if someone’s negligence was to blame. If you have had an accident in a factory or warehouse, and it wasn’t your fault, then we can help you to discover if you could make a claim today.

Factory Accident Claims

Factories can seem complicated. A fast-paced environment full of productivity, where heavy machinery, conveyor systems, and other industrial equipment types are present can pose real danger. However, being injured by one of the many hazards in a factory is still not OK. It’s important to know this isn’t something you just have to accept.

Employers have a legal duty of care to keep you safe. When they fail, either through lack of training, insufficient maintenance, faulty machinery, or poor safety protocols, you may be entitled to factory accident compensation.

At The Claims Partnership, our specialist solicitors handle factory accident claims on a no-win, no-fee basis, helping you secure compensation for medical care, lost earnings, pain and suffering, and more.

Common Types of Factory Injuries

  • Crush injuries
  • Amputations
  • Chemical burns
  • Hearing loss
  • Repetitive strain injuries
  • Burns from hot equipment
  • Deep cuts and lacerations
  • Eye injuries
  • Slips and falls
  • Broken bones

Warehouse Accident Claims

Working in a warehouse may initially not seem as dangerous as a factory, but it is also full of all manner of hazards and dangers. Any warehouse floor will have forklift trucks, heavy lifting, high shelving, and slip‑and‑trip risks. Any one of these can lead to serious injury.

If your employer fails to protect you from these, either because of inadequate training, unsecured loads, or unsafe conditions, you may have grounds for a warehouse accident claim.

Our team also specialises in warehouse injury claims, supporting you through every step, from gathering evidence (like incident reports and witness statements) to negotiating fair compensation.

Common Types of Warehouse Injuries

  • Back and shoulder strain
  • Slips and trips
  • Forklift accidents
  • Falling objects
  • Crush injuries
  • Head injuries
  • Cuts and grazes
  • Muscle strain
  • Electric shocks
  • Joint injuries (knees/ankles)

Time Limits To Make A Claim

For both Factory and Warehouse Accident claims, there is a time limit of 3 years from the date of the incident to make a claim. However, this time limit (commonly known as the limitation period) can begin from a later ‘date of knowledge’ if you only discover the injuries at a later date.

FAQs

How Much Compensation Can I Get For a Factory Accident Claim?

Compensation payouts for factory accident injuries can vary significantly depending on the severity of the injury. Payouts can range from a few thousand pounds in the case of minor injuries, to over £1,000,000 for very severe cases like significant brain damage and continuous financial losses.

How Much Compensation Can I Get For a Warehouse Accident Claim?

Compensation for a warehouse accident claim in the UK depends on the type and severity of the injury, its impact on your life, and loss of earnings. Minor injuries may result in payouts of a few thousand pounds, while serious or life-changing injuries (such as spinal damage or amputations) can reach six figures or more. Working with a solicitor usually increases the chances of securing the maximum settlement.

How Long Do Claims Take?

Factory and warehouse accident claims may take around 6-9 months to settle in straightforward cases, while more complex claims can take over a year. For very serious injuries, the process may extend over several years.

Can I Claim If I Was Partially at Fault?

Yes, you can still claim compensation for a factory or warehouse accident even if you were partly at fault. This is called contributory negligence, and your payout will be reduced by your share of responsibility. For instance, if you are found 25% at fault, you would receive 75% of the compensation. However, if you were fully at fault then you cannot claim.

Case Study

A Factory Worker Trips Over a Tow Rope on the Shop-Floor

Graeme worked as a Production Operative for a large and well-known manufacturer of construction vehicles and plant. He was employed by them through an agency. His job required him to load small- wheeled containers with pieces of equipment, which would then be towed to other parts of the factory. Whilst doing his job, he needed to walk between the gap between two containers and has he did so, he tripped over a tow cable connecting the two containers.
